Assemblywoman Ma Tours Proposed Sites Reservoir
Family Water Alliance’s (FWA) executive director, Ashley Indrieri, had the privilege of organizing a tour for Assemblywoman Fiona Ma (D-San Francisco), in coordination with a rangeland tour hosted by the Glenn County Rangeland Association.
The tour was an effort to give the Assemblywoman, who sits on the Assembly Committee on Agriculture, a first hand look and local perspective, on the proposed Sites Reservoir. The tour was held the morning of December 4 and all attendees were briefed on the project at the FWA office before heading up to the proposed North of the Delta Off Stream Storage (Sites Reservoir) location.
Participating in the tour was Assemblywoman Ma, Nick Hardeman, district director for Assemblywoman Ma; Colusa County Supervisors Gary Evans and Tom Indrieri; Kim Davis with Senator Sam Aanestad’s office; Glenn County ranchers Ed Owens and Lawrence Martin; and Ashley Indrieri with FWA.
The tour was a great opportunity for FWA to show Assemblywoman Ma the unique benefits that the Sites Reservoir project includes. Being that Sites Reservoir is an off steam, above the ground storage project, it is considered to be more environmentally friendly than other projects that include dams.
While in the north state,
Assemblywoman Ma also attended a tour of the Orland-Artois Water Users district, a rangeland tour in Glenn County and attended the Rangeland Associations meeting, held the same day in Elk Creek.
We thank Assemblywoman Ma for taking her time to allow local north state residents, ranchers, and elected officials to share with her our perspectives and how issues impact rural communities differently than urban communities. ■
