Family Water Alliance was honored as Non-Profit of the Year for its unwavering leadership in rural stewardship, agricultural advocacy, and community-driven conservation.

Family Water Alliance is a strong advocate for family farmers and rural landowners.  For over 34 years, FWA has been a champion of private property rights, water rights, balanced environmental policy, and issues affecting rural communities across the Sacramento Valley.

  • Communicates with the media on issues affecting family farms, irrigation, water rights, and environmental regulations.

  • Publishes a quarterly newsletter reaching thousands of supporters and policymakers with timely updates on water policy, conservation, and rural issues.

  • Advocates for effective flood control to protect rural communities and agricultural lands.

  • Attends local, state, and federal agency meetings to keep landowners informed about policies and decisions impacting family farms, water rights, and private property rights.

  • Leads efforts to secure meaningful landowner assurances and strengthen good‑neighbor policies that minimize, avoid, or mitigate negative impacts from regulatory programs.

  • Successfully opposed the attempted eminent domain seizure of Conaway Ranch, testifying at the State Capitol and supporting legislative reforms to protect private property rights.

  • Represents landowners in regional and statewide water planning, ensuring their voices are included in decisions that shape California’s water future.

  • Participates in dispute resolution involving recreation, agriculture, and habitat restoration, working with State Parks, DFG, USFWS, and other resource agencies to find balanced, practical solutions.
