Oklahoma Tries Right To Farm Legislation

This years ballot in Oklahoma will include legislation that would make it harder for animal rights groups to stop farming and ranching by giving those people involved projection from groups whose mission is to stop all use of animal in farm operations. Citing the increased efforts by these groups to halt farm and ranch operations ballot proponents say they have no choice but to protect farm operations with legislation, because of a growing disconnect between producers and consumers. Initiative 777 would enshrine ranching and farming into the state constitution. Opponents say it ties the hands of local government to protect animals and the environment.
